Angush Blu Remembered After Fatal Lumber Truck Crash And Wildfire Near Bethel Lucas Road In Randolph County
Angush Blu died Tuesday afternoon, May 5, 2026, after a tractor-trailer carrying lumber crashed along NC Highway 134 near Bethel Lucas Road in Randolph County.
Authorities said the northbound truck crossed the centerline, left the roadway, entered a wooded area, and struck several trees before stopping.
The shifted lumber load damaged the cab, and flames soon spread from the wreckage into nearby dry vegetation.
Emergency responders pronounced Angush Blu deceased at the scene as fire crews and the North Carolina Forest Service worked to contain the blaze.
Officials said the wildfire burned about 1.3 acres before crews brought it fully under control.
Authorities closed the road for hours, diverted traffic, and continued reviewing why the truck crossed the centerline.
