4-Year-Old Joseph Tadens Remembered After Fatal Pedestrian Crash In Kansas City’s Historic Northeast Neighborhood
Joseph Tadens, a 4-year-old child, died Monday evening after being struck by a marked Amazon delivery vehicle in Kansas City, Missouri.
Kansas City police said officers responded just before 6:30 p.m. to East Missouri Avenue and Lexington Avenue after reports that a child had been struck.
Investigators said the vehicle had completed a nearby package delivery and was traveling west on East 3rd Terrace toward Woodland Avenue when the collision occurred.
Authorities said Joseph had been playing in a grassy area of a nearby public park before entering the roadway.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Joseph died at the scene.
Police said the driver initially stopped, then left before officers arrived, and a family member reportedly tried to follow the vehicle and alert the driver.
The Kansas City Police Department said detectives continue to identify and locate the driver while asking witnesses or anyone with surveillance or dashcam footage to come forward.
Memorial service details will be announced later by family members.
