Eric Schaffer, 31, Dies After Akron Bar Dispute At Noisy Oyster Pub In Akron On May 4, 2026
Eric Schaffer, 31, of Cuyahoga Falls, died after a dispute escalated inside the Noisy Oyster Pub along Portage Path in Akron, Ohio, on Monday night, May 4, 2026.
Akron officials said emergency crews arrived around 8:14 p.m. and transported Schaffer to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center.
Medical staff pronounced Schaffer dead at 8:49 p.m., and authorities continued reviewing the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
Another person, age 35, received care for serious injuries that officials described as not life-threatening.
Police later took 28-year-old Larnell Nealy Jr. into custody after Nealy entered the Summit County Jail just after 11:20 p.m.
Akron Police Chief Brian Harding called the incident senseless as detectives continued gathering details from witnesses and the scene.
Family members are expected to announce obituary and funeral service details at a later time.
