William Smith And Laura Smith Identified After Being Found Dead Inside A Prior Lake Home Near Spruce Trail And Spruce Circle
Authorities in Prior Lake, Minnesota, identified 35-year-old William Smith and 34-year-old Laura Smith after officers found them dead inside a home near Spruce Trail and Spruce Circle.
Prior Lake Police Department officers responded around 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026, for a welfare check after people raised concerns about the occupants.
Officers entered the residence after determining they needed forced entry, and they found William and Laura Smith deceased in a bedroom.
Officials first withheld the names to allow proper family notification before public identification.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting local officers as they continue to determine what happened inside the home.
Authorities said they know of no current risk to the public, and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death.
